ENTRY #4

Date: 08/24/15

Its been a long day without our AdTech period because Sir Oro was out. During the periods where Sir Oro is gone, we're making the prototype of how the balls will sort in our ball sorter.

On this day, we let Sir Oro see our prototype. He instantly approved it and told us to start working on the final artefact.

I don't have any pictures when Sir Oro check our prototype, so for now, please enjoy the following pictures of some Rosal 2k20 people.

ENTRY #3

Date: 08/04/15

Today, we only re-draw our design and put some colours to it.

We let Sir Oro check it again and ask what we can add to it to make it more efficient, unique and stable.

Before dismissing, we talked about when we should start working on our prototype and our final output and who will buy the materials and where we are going to make this ball sorter.

We hope for our output to be as good as we imagined or even greater than we imagined.

ENTRY #2

DATE: 08/03/15

We are not very satisfied about the design we made last week (which is an octopus if you can remember),
so we brainstormed again for the design we are going to make for our ball sorter. We made a lot of drafts.. (here are some pictures)..

After brainstorming, we came up with a new design-- a water dispenser.

After finalizing and agreeing with the design, we let Sir Oro check our design. We explained how will the ball sorter work, how will the ball sort, and how we will make it.

After explaining, Sir Oro already approved our design! And told us to start making it!

ENTRY #1

DATE: 07/30/2015

We talked about so many things this meeting. We talked about the design of the ball sorter, materials needed, we should we make this ball sorter and the one who will make our blog.

Here are some pictures that we took while we are discussing..

After the whole period, we already came up with a design.. but it's not final yet. And as you can see, the design is pretty.. uhm, you know, messy.. but i swear, that's an octopus-inspired ball sorter, complete with the head of the octopus and its tentacles.

CONSTRAINTS & CONSIDERATIONS

CONSTRAINTS:

  1. Purpose of the ball sorter
  2. Size of the bins/compartments
  3. Size and number of the balls
  4. Materials to be used
  5. Type of balls to be used (ping-pong balls and marbles)

CONSIDERATIONS:

  1. The length of the path
  2. How wide the path
  3. Size of holes
  4. Number of holes
  5. The use of styrofoam

MATERIALS:

  1. Cardboard/ Cheap board/ Illustration board
  2. Pencil and Eraser
  3. Ruler/ Meter stick
  4. Tape and glue
  5. Cutter and scissors
  6. Paint and paint brush/es
  7. Marbles
  8. Ping-pong balls
  9. Styrofoam

EVALUATION CRITERIA

  1. Can the styrofoam make the base more stable?
  2. Are the materials enough to make an efficient ball sorter?
  3. Is the path wide enough to make the ride down smoothly?
  4. Can the size of the holes affect the sorter?
  5. Is the size of the bins enough to hold the balls?

Looking For Designs

At first, we are just planning to copy design from the net but, we decided to create our own design, a simple but unique design. Here are some of the designs that we saw in the internet.

This design is pretty simple, the materials are available and it is pretty easy to build.

The design is easy and the base is pretty stable.

The design is simple but it is for marbles only.

I like the idea but the design is pretty complex for a beginner like us (we could do this if we are given a long period of time).

ADTECH II

"I envision myself as CREATIVE, INVENTIVE, and INNOVATIVE" -- Scholar's Pledge.

That line from the Scholar's Pledge is really applicable for the activities we are going to make in our AdTech II

For our first quarter in AdTech II, we are given a task to make a hand-made ball sorter that could sort ping-pong balls and marbles. Me, Princess Willen Villarin, and my groupmates, Erika Jhoy Agnas and Alyssa Franz Uvero, are working hard on this project to build a unique ball sorter.

And this blog and the readers will be the witnesses of our progress and the struggles we are going to face.
